You may remember that back in February, we launched a campaign looking for the most deserving candidate for hearing aids in New Braunfels. After a long and challenging debate, we’ve managed to identify a winner, and we are happy to reveal her to you now.
This contest was so exciting for us because it took place during the coldest month of the year. Although Valentine’s Day is meant to warm our hearts, for some people, chocolate and flowers just don’t cut it.
With hearing loss being so common, we thought it might serve our community better to provide a service that will help one of our neighbors improve their lifestyle dramatically with a set of brand-new ReSound hearing aids.
We were overwhelmed by the support we received, which is why it took a bit longer to sort through all the nominations. With this kind of reception, I’m sure we’ll be doing this again soon.
But enough chit-chat; let me introduce you to this year’s winner.
And Our Winner Is…
Without further ado, I’m happy to announce Sarah Bond as the winner of our 2023 14 Days of Love competition.
Sarah is the mother of eight children and has very little time for herself, as she homeschools all of her kids. She is a caring and wonderful person who is known for putting other people’s needs ahead of hers.
We are so happy to present this prize to her after hearing what she has gone through over the past three years. While we have all struggled, Sarah was dealing with everything that we were, with the addition of eight kids and a rapidly declining hearing loss.
Before the pandemic, she had a hearing test that revealed she needed hearing aids. Then everything happened, and she was forced to put her hearing needs on the back burner.
Sarah was ecstatic to learn that her life would drastically improve now that she would be able to hear her kids more clearly. School days were becoming very frustrating for everyone, as Sarah had trouble hearing, and her kids were getting agitated about repeating themselves all the time.
Once we convinced Sarah that this was not one of “those internet scams”, she immediately became very emotional.
Since getting her hearing aids, she’s informed us that not only do they help with the kids, but they have helped improve her marriage as well. Dinners and nights out with her husband are much more enjoyable now, as she can understand everything happening around her.
Congratulations, Sarah; we are so happy to help and happy that you are enjoying your improved hearing health.
A Great Nomination Goes a Long Way
The beauty of this contest is that it rests on the love and admiration of those around us. We were blown away at the volume of nominations we received and how heartfelt they ALL were.
In Sarah’s case, it was her husband who painted a clear picture of what their lives were like with her severe hearing loss.
“It is hurting our relationship in many ways. The household is loud, and I work from home, and it makes it difficult to concentrate due to the loudness.” We could sense the dismay jumping off the screen as we read through Robert’s nomination.
“When my wife gets a phone call, she gets frustrated and interprets the wrong words trying to communicate with the caller and passes the phone to the kids or me. Watching TV is also a challenge because the volume is too loud and affects others trying to focus on their homework and office work. Please help us help her. We cannot afford expensive hearing aids. We can barely manage our large household as it is.”
