New Braunfels would not be what it is today without our local businesses, and one of the things our community does well is provide all kinds of food choices from every corner of the globe. To celebrate, we’re spotlighting Krause’s Café and Biergarten this month.
Why Krause’s?
Krause’s is a family-owned local business that has been here for generations. Kermit Krause bought the place from his father in 1959, and since then, it has changed from a lunchtime restaurant with card games and dominoes to what it is today.
The venue is divided into four different sections, so you can choose to sit in your own part of Krause’s to reflect what you want to enjoy most with the people you are with.
- A traditional café with a restaurant setting
- A bierhalle or dining hall with the tables all lined up, and you just find a seat
- A biergarten – a covered outdoor area with a stage
- A turf area with round outdoor tables
Food – New Braunfels has deep German roots and Krause’s embraces them. Most of the menu options are German or have a German flair. No matter what kind of German food you are hankering for, Krause’s is likely to have it – schnitzel, bratwurst, sauerkraut, pretzels, and more. And if you’d rather eat something else, Krause’s menu includes salads, burgers, chicken wings, sandwiches, and steak.
Whether you are there for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or just a snack, they’ve got you covered.
Drinks – The dining hall area has a huge bar with about 80 different kinds of beer on tap, all served up in steins, and they have the largest beer selection in New Braunfels.
