One day we were eating at Krause’s and listening to live music when we struck up a conversation with the people next to us, Dan Holmes and Heather Ray. Lo and behold, they were both musicians.
We talked about their in-ear monitors and the importance of protecting your hearing when you are a musician. I was thrilled that they both had a pair of custom-fit “in ears” (as they say in the music world). They invited us to their live band karaoke later that evening.
Boy, were we in for a treat!
Every Thursday, Dan and Heather have a live band karaoke at a local pub called Moonshine and Ale, and on the weekends, they do a piano bar-type show called All Request Piano.
Dan and Heather are absolutely talented and all-around good people. I could not believe the crowd on a Thursday night.
I have no musical talent and would never even attempt karaoke, but I was impressed with those who did.
We had so much fun, we decided to go back to the piano show on Saturday.
Dan and Heather take turns playing the piano and drums. They are true entertainers and really know how to get the crowd involved. Sweet Heather even gave away a pair of drumsticks to a little boy who was watching through the window outside, keeping the beat on his air drums.
What’s an All-Request Piano Show?
It’s a show with a playlist chosen by the crowd, and while Dan and Heather play and Heather sings, the crowd sings along. The instruments and musicians might change slightly each night – sometimes they invite a bass player, guitarist, or drummer to join them – but the two main instruments are pianos and drums.
